Souq Waqif, Two Perspectives
The initial pencil lines were “put down” on paper at Souq Waqif. This initial phase is quick and sporatic. Layered blocks of colour were added in the studio afterwards, a process that lasted several weeks. Every subsequent layer further develops depth in the shifting composition. Via this process, which contrasts instantaneous lines with slow, laboured colours, Qatar’s historical landmark is linked with the intensity of the present time and place.
