#lovedohacolours

These paintings are part of an on-going series that denote Doha’s subtle colour contrasts. The purposeful and distinct layers are simplified to the point where the layers can be counted and the viewer can appreciate the slight contrasts.

The challenge for the viewer is to then see similar colour relationships in Doha’s urban views and landscapes.

“When I moved to Doha in 2012, I read a magazine article that deduced Doha’s colours to two Pantone colours in the beige range, implying that the spectrum was ‘boring.’ That sat with me. Since then I have found the dessert colours to exercise my mind to see subtle contrasts…and I wanted to share an artist’s viewpoint in a way that is accessible to a broad audience.” – Charlene
